Welcome

Welcome to KIVUNIM, the Premier Gap-Year Program. Please read carefully through our website.  We hope you will find that what we offer meets your needs for next year. If it does we look forward to receiving your application.  We are a Jewish educational program open to Jews and non-Jews alike!

Our Mission

KIVUNIM’s college-age program inspires its students to forge a lifelong relationship with Israel and the Jewish People through our travels across the world - gaining understanding of Jewish life and history together with that of the many cultures, religions and worldviews amongst whom the Jewish people grew in its 2000 year Diaspora.

International Travels

KIVUNIM believes that the future leadership of the Jewish people must become better informed and more comfortable with the broader world in which we live. At the same time, we must become more knowledgeable about our own international roots and come to a deeper appreciation of the cultures and traditions that have actually created the Jewish people of today.

Academic Program

KIVUNIM students receive a full year of college credit transferrable to and accepted by most colleges and universities across North America. KIVUNIM’s Academic Program consists of five courses that support the basic goals and objectives of our extensive travel schedule. Formal academic credits are provided by Hebrew College of Boston MA, which is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

Applications, Tuition and Financial Aid

Details of our application process for admission and financial aid are available here.

KIVUNIM's Philosophy at work

Our relationship with the Mimouna Foundation of Moroccan is one of the most significant outgrowths of our international program.

A KIVUNIM parent reflects on her son's experience:

“I just want to express my appreciation and gratitude for the extraordinarily rich program you have crafted and the immeasurable opportunity you have given our teens.  From the beginning, Kivunim sounded like a program hand-selected for our son’s expansive interests and hungry bent of mind.  Nevertheless, I harbored some questions that any one set of logistics could foster the ambitious agenda, the intellectual challenges and the lofty ideals posed by Kivunim documentation.

Thankfully, we still have 8 months to address this issue fully, but thus far, Kivunim does appear to offer far more than even your generous documentation allows.  I am profoundly grateful for the wide-eyed wonder, the joys, the confusion, the possibilities, the facts, the dimensions, the questions, the engagement, the hard earth, the crashing ideals, the soaring hopes, and the whirl of sights, sounds, smells, feelings, and perceptions that may take a lifetime to parse.  He is learning.  He is learning so much.  That’s all I wanted.  And that’s what he’s finding.  And he’ll figure out what to do with it later.”
